Cars are a huge part of many people’s lives, so it should come as no surprise that they make an appearance in movies as well. Movies have reinforced certain types of vehicles (such as in the James Bond films) and brought attention to new automobiles when they came out. This has resulted in what is sometimes referred to as ‘product placement,’ where an entirely fictional movie will feature real-life products or companies to raise brand awareness and further engrain them into pop culture. Here we have a list of automobiles that appeared in the most iconic movies of all time.

Aston Martin DB5

The ten most cinematic automobiles are worth discovering from James Bond’s iconic vehicles because the British superagent turned almost everything he touches into a trend and a legend. From the third film  “Goldfinger” the stellar career of Aston Martin DB5 began. Two cars were used in the film – one for stunts, the other for close-up filming of the heroes of the tape.

Ford Mustang

Тhis list just couldn’t be without Ford Mustang. First of all, it was (and is) wildly popular among high school students and actively got into all sorts of youth comedies. On the other hand, powerful versions had become an integral part of all movie races and chases: Gone in 60 Seconds, Death Race, Need for Speed, and, of course, Detective Bullitt, which featured one of the best car chases in the movie history. Mustang also appeared in James Bond’s “Diamonds Are Forever” episode.

Mercedes S class

The best-selling sedan in its class had always been a symbol of prosperity when it was released. The successful and rich of the world, including Hollywood producers, drove Mercedes. The Mercedes-Benz S class was featured also in several movies and television shows. The latest movie where it appeared was “The Avengers”.

Chevrolet Impala

The Chevrolet Impala became widely known in films as a police vehicle in the fight against street gangs. Interestingly, the Impala of the sixties was those gangs’ favorite too. That’s why the model appeared in so many police dramas and music videos. One of the automobile’s memorable roles was in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Shelby GT500

In the fast-paced action movie “Gone in 60 Seconds”, Nicolas Cage plays the role of an automobile thief who is crazy about the Shelby GT500 named “Eleanor”. The 2-door fastback was used in the 2000 remake of the ’74 original “Gone in 60 Seconds”. The film’s remake made this spectacular automobile popular again.

Lincoln Town Car

This limousine played iconic roles in many incredible movies. Kevin Costner hid Whitney Houston in this limousine in the iconic “The Bodyguard”, and Macaulay Culkin enjoyed New York in “Home Alone 2”. It was a real symbol of a beautiful life in the eighties and nineties.

Chevrolet Camaro

In the first episodes of Transformers, Bumblebee turned into a 1977 Chevrolet Camaro Z28. A bright yellow Camaro with two black stripes turned Transformers into more than just a sci-fi movie based on 1980s cartoons. Interestingly, Bumblebee’s automobile in the original ’80s Transformers cartoons was a Volkswagen Beetle. However, the replacement with the Camaro made Bumblebee more impressive and powerful.
