After the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is about to open letters of credit (LCs) for the car industry, the automakers are geared up to make a rapid stride in terms of plummeting sales and profits. Suffice it to say, car companies are planning to add more variants to their lineups. Surprisingly enough, MG Pakistan is among the car makers. Earlier, MG’s Poster boy Javed Afridi teased a number of cars in his series of tweets, but we didn’t hear even a murmur regarding any of these cars.
What’s New?
In a recent development, MG Pakistan has revealed that the company is planning to launch two more variants of its crossover named ‘MG HS‘, 2.0 AWD and Excite. Meaning the company is planning to uptick its market presence and compete more effectively with its rivals. The news seems authentic because this time, it’s not Javed Afridi’s tweet unfolding the development.
MG Pakistan disclosed its expansion strategy in a press tour where the automaker is going to also focus on the sedan segment. The company’s official informed that the MG GT could be the first sedan running on the local roads. Currently, there is no information translating the launch, features, and price of these upcoming cars, but these cars can pose a serious challenge to the crossover SUV reigning in the market.
Coming to the local car maker’s sales digits, MG Motors has successfully sold 15,000 units of the MG HS in the past two and a half years. Despite the ongoing economic situation, the company expressed optimism regarding Pakistan’s automotive potential, indicating that MG Motors maintains a positive outlook for the market.
Presently, MG’s manufacturing plant has the capacity to produce 25,000 vehicles annually. However, in light of the existing economic challenges, the monthly production output has been restricted to 400 cars.
