Are you a driver in Punjab? Well, get ready for some potential changes that could impact your wallet and road safety. The Punjab Police has come up with a bold proposal to significantly increase driving license fees, with the aim of generating additional revenue and enhancing road safety measures in the province. Let’s take a closer look at what this proposal entails.

Driving License Fee for Motorcycle and LTV

If the proposal gets the green light, get ready to dig deeper into your pockets to obtain a driving license. Motorcycle license fees, which currently stand at Rs. 550, are expected to witness a jaw-dropping 263.64% surge, reaching a whopping Rs. 2,000. Similarly, for those aiming to acquire an LTV license, the fee is proposed to be raised by a staggering 321.05%, soaring from Rs. 950 to Rs. 4,000.

HTV Driving License Fees

The proposal doesn’t stop there. Aspiring HTV license holders are in for a shock as the fees for these licenses are set to skyrocket from Rs. 450 to Rs. 4,000, reflecting an astounding percentage increase of 788.89%. Such drastic changes are likely to have significant implications for commercial drivers and businesses relying on heavy vehicles.

Learner License Fees

If you thought obtaining a learner license was affordable, think again. The proposed fee for a learner license is expected to jump from the current Rs. 60 to Rs. 500, showcasing an astonishing percentage change of 733.33%. Aspiring drivers may need to rethink their plans for learning to drive, considering the considerable cost increase.

International Driving License

It’s not just domestic licenses facing hefty hikes; the proposal also extends to International Driving Licenses. If approved, obtaining an International Driving License would require a fee of Rs. 4,000, reflecting a noteworthy percentage increase from the existing amount.

The fate of the proposed driving license fee hike now lies in the hands of the provincial government. If approved, Punjab drivers will have to brace themselves for a significant financial impact when it comes to obtaining or renewing their licenses.
