Stellantis, the parent company of Alfa Romeo and Dodge, issued a recall order for about 4,700 Alfa Romeo Tonale plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and Dodge Hornet PHEV SUVs from model years 2023-2024 because they lack a required pedestrian alert beep that should sound when the cars are in reverse.

The beep is necessary because both vehicles can be near-silent at low speeds if only their electric motors are engaged.

Stellantis tells federal safety officials the cars “may have been built with a pedestrian alert siren that is not properly connected and/or missing.”

Dealers will fix the problem by connecting unconnected sirens and installing missing ones.

Recall repairs are always free.

Automakers recall many cars, often more than once, during their lifespan. Automakers try to contact every owner but don’t always reach them all. Find out whether your vehicle has any outstanding recalls with the easy VIN tool at our recall center.
