Edwin Lammertink is happy. Describing himself as being “happy as a child”, he has much to smile about. Having founded Lammertink Porsche 25 years ago in Enter, Netherlands, Edwin has been living the dream every day since. And who couldn’t raise a smile when ‘work’ is a workshop array of Porsche’s finest work?
It’s for Porsche fans…
While some of the AI-generated translations on the company’s Facebook page may be questionable (“technical hair barrels of the car”, anyone?) the cars speak for themselves.
Discover the passion of Edwin Lammertink and his team for the iconic Porsche brand. From mechanic to founder and director/owner of Porsche Centrum Twente, his expertise and experience is unparalleled.
A Porsche professional.
Starting his own Porsche journey as a student mechanic in the Porsche dealership, learning his craft through the “little red book”, Edwin has been with Porsche, man and boy, and it’s this immersion in the culture of Porsche that has brought him to where he is today. And it’s that feeling for Porsche that helps him deliver such fulfilling experiences for every customer. He talks about customers not arriving with problems but wishes.
Wish fulfilment?
“Every customer arrives with a wish. I am here to make that wish come true for you. Nothing is too much trouble. They’re just challenges to be overcome. Normal workshops don’t go as far as we do.”
The key to his own happiness, Edwin believes, is seeing the reaction of his own customers as their Porsche dreams are duly delivered. “Whether the car needs a gearbox, engine, it’s a journey. A makeover.” And Edwin knows just the people to help him deliver every customer dream.
Design 911: Going Dutch.
With our new distribution centre in the Netherlands, Design 911 are metaphorically and geographically in the ideal place to help Edwin realise the potential of every Porsche in his care. “I draw up a wish list, and (after sales manager) Branco talks to Design 911… and everything arrives on time, we are happy with it, the prices are good… it’s going perfect.”
A vivacious, energetic man, Edwin is careful to surround himself with younger people to keep that pace. “Young people are frenetic”, he laughs. It’s just as well, bearing in mind the workload and his insistence on delivering a perfect ending to every customer journey.
Takes one to know one?
As a man who can build a Porsche from bumper to bumper – and then race it – Edwin understands the Porsche like few others. So, he surrounds himself with like-minded people. Those who share his passion for Porsche. It’s this careful choice of mechanics and backroom staff that prompted Porsche to award them the rare accolade of Porsche Classic First Engineers.
Problems? What problems?
The only mention of a challenge relates to the Porsches, not the people who drive them. Highlighting the key pieces in the workshop, he describes the Targa as being a challenge because of the “weak body for such a big engine”. The answer was to work around what the manufacturer had created. “Get the right suspension on it, gear settings, tuning the engine…
