Agriauto Industries Limited (PSX: AGIL) has announced a partial shutdown for November 2023, citing reduced production volumes from its major customers. The company disclosed this information in a filing to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Wednesday.

The statement explained, “Due to the reduction in production volumes of our major customers, the Company will be observing a partial shutdown during the month of November 2023.”

Furthermore, the filing revealed that Agriauto Stamping Company Private Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Agriauto Industries Ltd, will also undergo a partial shutdown in November 2023 due to the same production challenges.

This development follows a series of extended partial shutdowns that Agriauto has been experiencing since February 2023. The consistent need for such measures suggests ongoing challenges within the industry or specific operational constraints faced by the company.

Honda & PSMC’s Plan

A day earlier, Honda Atlas and Pakistan Suzuki Motors Company (PSMC) announced the same in the face of short inventory. Pak Suzuki’s revised schedule now stretches from November 6 to November 8, following a previous extension from October 30 to November 3.

Discussing Honda Atlas’ plan, originally slated for closure from October 24 to October 31, 2023, Honda’s plant will now remain dormant until November 7, 2023, as per the recent notification from the company. The statement emphasized the dynamic nature of the situation, with a commitment to keeping stakeholders informed of any further changes.

This move comes in the wake of similar decisions by industry peers Pak Suzuki and Toyota, indicating a shared struggle in maintaining regular production schedules. The ripple effects of these production halts are felt not only by the manufacturers but also by consumers eagerly awaiting new vehicles.
