The 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 marked a significant milestone for the Corvette brand, representing the pinnacle of its 66-year production history and signaling the end of the era of front-engine hyper-Corvettes.
Beneath its hood, the distinctive LT5 supercharged 6.2L V-8 engine proudly resided, elevating the Corvette’s supercharging legacy to unprecedented levels with an impressive 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque, setting a new power record for Chevrolet production vehicles.
With a certified top speed of 212.49 mph, the bodywork featured a unique front fascia designed to channel air for propulsion system and drivetrain cooling. Additionally, it boasted a special carbon fiber “halo” hood that exposed the supercharger/intercooler.
The C7 ZR1 was not only a formidable performance machine with a powerful exhaust note but also surprisingly manageable at lower speeds. Garnering acclaim from major automotive press for its exceptional driving experience, it rightfully earned the designation “supercar” in a manner that few Corvettes had achieved before.
