After a series of downtrends and consecutive nosedives, car sales in Pakistan are off to a promising beginning this year. As per PAMA (Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association), month-on-month (MoM) report car sales jacked up by staggering 81%, selling 10,536 units in Jan’23 compared to 5,816 vehicles in December 2023.
However, in a year-to-year (YoY) comparison, there was a slight decline of 5%, as car makers sold 11,124 cars during the same period last year, thanks to steep rise in car prices, ceasing purchasing power and low car financing.
Two Wheelers
Likewise, there was a notable surge in two-wheeler sales, marking a significant uptick of 27% last month, reaching 104,619 units compared to 82,362 bikes sold in December 2023. Particularly noteworthy is the 28% increase in sales for Japanese motorcycle manufacturer Honda, which sold 92,041 units last month, up from 72,096 units in December ’23.
Meanwhile, Pak Suzuki also experienced a 9% increase, selling 1,484 units last month compared to 1,363 bikes in December ’23.
Trucks & Buses
Truck and buses sales experienced a notable surge of 130% month-on-month (MoM), sold 242 units last month against 105 in December 2023.
