No (or very few) emissions – The emissions caused by the production of EVs are minimal, especially when compared to the pollution caused by the production and use of cars with internal combustion engines (ICE).

Long charging times – Unless you have immediate access to a DC fast charger, you should expect to charge your electric vehicle for several hours, even overnight.

Charging costs less than gas – As of March 2022, the average unleaded fuel cost is $4.50/gallon. That equals about $0.50/mile if you own a Rolls-Royce Ghost and drive 10,000 miles annually.

Residential EV charging costs are approximately $0.14-$0.17/kWh. Using the same numbers above, and running an apples-to-oranges comparison of the Ghost vs. an electric luxury car like the BMW i4 M50 Electric, a similar EV costs just $0.20 per mile.

Range anxiety exists – Although the driving range in electric cars has significantly improved, you’re still limited to a certain number of miles until the EV needs a full charge.

Lower cost of ownership – Electric vehicles requires very little maintenance. There’s no need for a Rolls-Royce oil change, for instance, which could save hundreds or thousands of dollars a year.

Lacking EV charging infrastructure – To increase range anxiety, certain regions, unfortunately, aren’t EV-friendly – yet. If you’re taking a long trip, you’ll have to plan your stops ahead of time.

Improved EV charging times – Charging with a home EV charger can take a long time (sometimes overnight). However, public DC fast chargers can oftentimes get your battery topped off to at least 80% in less than 20 minutes.

Higher purchase prices – Electric vehicles cost more than their ICE counterparts. Federal tax incentives and lower EV charging costs can help bridge that gap, however.

Increased average driving range – While range anxiety is still an issue, new electric vehicles have much higher driving ranges. Most EVs can go 250 to 400 miles in one charge.

Better public charging options – In rural areas, finding a public EV charging station may be difficult. In major cities, like Miami, there are numerous EV chargers available. Best of all, the EV charging infrastructure is growing at a rapid pace; by the time the Rolls-Royce Spectre is released, there will likely be tens of thousands more public electric vehicle charging locations in America.

Battery replacement costs are high – Batteries in EVs do eventually die. When they do, it’s prudent to get a battery replacement, not just sell your electric car. Electric vehicle batteries can cost thousands, but it’s more affordable than buying a new vehicle.

Federal tax incentives – Who doesn’t like getting a tax kickback for fighting the good fight? As of 2022, full BEVs can qualify for the full $7,500 in federal tax credits, while plug-in hybrid vehicles may qualify for a reduced amount.

Safety concerns – There have been reports of EV batteries catching fire, and that’s certainly a concern to consider. However, these BEV issues are very rare (about 0.03% chance).

Improved EV battery longevity – Today’s electric vehicle batteries are better equipped to withstand extreme temperatures and charge capacity depreciation. Most auto manufacturers also offer an extended EV battery warranty for added peace of mind. EV batteries also have the potential to be recycled cleanly.

Potential HOV/carpool access – Some states may provide EV owners with access to the carpool lane, even if they’re driving solo.

Additional solutions – As electric automobile technology improves, expect your EV to serve as a multi-purpose power solution. It can charge up other EVs, provide power to tools, and even be used as a clean generator.

Instant torque is pretty awesome – It just is. End of story. Even if you don’t get that natural engine sound, the feeling of immediate acceleration is a blast.

Excellent resale value – While today’s EVs have a smaller used-car market, it only makes sense that, as more new electric vehicles are sold, used EV shoppers will increase. This invariably means your new EV will depreciate less.
