How Can You Check if Your Vehicle Has a Recall?
Federal law requires automakers to issue a recall anytime cars have a safety problem. That could be as simple as missing information in the owner’s manual or as critical as potential brake failure. Consumers should check their vehicle identification number (VIN) and utilize our free recall tool.
There are many places where you can find your VIN. One of the easiest ways would be to look inside the driver’s door. Located around the latch, there is a visible 17-digit number.
Here are some other places you can check for your VIN:
- On your dashboard near the windshield
- Your vehicle title
- On your insurance card
- Inside your glove compartment
- On the right-hand dash panel
Recall repairs are always free. No matter how many miles are on the car, how old the model is, or when the recall was issued — the manufacturer will fix it. Automakers aren’t always able to notify every owner, and unrepaired vehicles remain on the road. Stay in the clear; check for issues with your vehicle.
