Honda City has been ruling hearts for more than three decades, and Pakistanis are enjoying this phenomenal machine with the slogan ‘mein te Honda hi le sa.’ From aesthetic to comfort, this sedan has proven itself to be the prime choice of our nation. With years passing by, it has undergone numerous modifications and facelifts, but today, we will let you know our take on the 7th generation of Honda City from an owner’s point of view.
Look at the History!
Do you know that the 1st generation of the Honda City looked like today’s Mehran?
It was launched back in 1981 and remained in production till 1986. It was a roomy hatchback carrying a 1231cc CVCC engine with a 4/5 manual speed transmission. It was marketed as the Honda Jazz model due to its poppy look. After this, the transformation from the hatchback to the sedan started, and in 1996, Honda launched an entirely redesigned City model. A sedan that continued its manufacturer’s legacy till today.
Owner’s Purchase Decision
Hamza had a previous-generation City, which he decided to change with the new model. In comparison, there was only one competitor, the Toyota Yaris. He took a drive of Yaris and City but finally chose the Honda City due to its comfort and snazziness. Here, we reviewed the Honda City, 2022, 1.2L, CVT, GM6.
Modifications
Hamza is another modification enthusiast. First, he changed the rims of the City to 17 inches, added a D-cut steering, imported from Thailand at 45,000 PKR, changed the genuine LED with a new 7-inch having Android Auto feature, deployed dash cam, and interior dynamic lighting.
The most pronounced feature of this project car was its air suspension, which is operable with a handy remote. It upgraded the overall design and improved its road handling while giving a sporty look. However, one of its downsides was a compromised boot space and a continuous noise of the charging/discharging air cylinder.
Price and Maintenance
Hamza purchased this car at the cost of 38 lacs last December and paid a registration fee of 1.5 lacs. Though he loves to get the oil changed every 3,000 km from the Honda dealership, maintenance falls on the higher side for this Honda City.
