Lahore High Court (LHC) has hinted at imposing Rs. 5,000 fine on bikers without helmets. Currently, the fine for not wearing helmet on bike is Rs. 2,000. During the hearing of a case today, Justice Shahid Kareem asked City Traffic Police Lahore to make new rules, and the court will issue an order on them. “Impose this heavy fine; everything will be alright,” the court commented.

The court also directed the police to launch an awareness campaign about helmets for ten days and then implement new rules..

Action Against Helmet Less Bikers

It is pertinent to mention that Lahore Traffic Police have already launched a fresh crackdown against the bikers without helmets. With the objective of ensuring compliance with traffic laws, the department has taken strict action against those found without proper headgear, resulting in a significant number of challans and seizures in a short span of time.

Over the course of the past nine days, the Lahore traffic police have issued a staggering 152,888 challans to motorcyclists who failed to wear helmets. This proactive approach aims to create awareness among riders and promote responsible behavior on the roads. Additionally, fines have been imposed on 23,767 individuals, and more than 38,000 motorcycles have been seized from various neighborhoods across Lahore.

The CTO of Lahore, Mustansar Feroze, emphasized the importance of strict adherence to traffic laws, particularly in relation to helmet usage. The department’s primary objective is not simply to issue tickets but rather to ensure the safety and well-being of the public. Feroze urged citizens to recognize the significance of wearing helmets as a means to protect themselves and their loved ones from potential accidents and injuries.

In a resolute move, the CTO instructed the traffic police to escalate their crackdown on helmetless motorcyclists in all corners of Lahore.
