Sports suspension and very effective aerodynamics for a high-performance sports automobile

Porsche releases the reins on the brand-new 911 GT3. This high-performance sports car’s seventh iteration was likewise created in close cooperation with Porsche Motorsport. More consistently than ever, it converts pure racing technology into a production model: the 375 kW (510 PS) four-litre six-cylinder boxer engine is based on the drivetrain of the 911 GT3 R, which has been tried and true in endurance racing, and the sophisticated aerodynamics with swan neck rear wing and striking diffuser come from the successful GT race car 911 RSR. The high-revving, sonically stunning engine is largely unchanged in the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The end result is an excellent driving machine that is both efficient and emotional, precise and high-performance, making it ideal for use both on the racetrack and in daily life.

The 911 GT3’s ability to stand out comes from the combination of its features. It is faster than the preceding 911 GT3 RS, reaching a top speed of 320 km/h (318 km/h with PDK). It takes 3.4 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. A six-speed manual transmission is also an option for the new model from Porsche, providing a notably minimalist driving experience. Using lessons learned from motor racing, the sophisticated aerodynamics produce much higher downforce without appreciably changing the drag coefficient. The manually adjusted wing and diffuser pieces greatly raise the aerodynamic pressure for fast cornering speeds while in the performance position. But since the 911 GT3 is at its most potent on the racetrack, this is exclusively limited to outings there. It lapped the Nuerburgring-Nordschleife, usually the ultimate test track for all Porsche sports cars, over 17 seconds faster than its predecessor during final testing. Lars Kern, a development driver, completed a whole 20.8-kilometer lap in just 6:59.927 minutes. The 911 GT3 finished the shorter 20.6-kilometer course, which had previously served as a standard, in 6:55.2 minutes. Under the skilled guidance of Porsche brand ambassador Jörg Bergmeister, the new model consistently delivered its performance over multiple laps while mounted on the optionally available Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres. It is “by far the best production car” Bergmeister, a seasoned pro driver, has ever driven in the “Green Hell.”

Despite having a wider body, bigger wheels, and more technological equipment, the new GT3 weighs about the same as its predecessor. It weights 1.418 kilos with a manual transmission and 1.435 kilograms with a PDK. Weight control is ensured via the front bonnet’s carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) construction, light-weight windows, optimized brake discs, and forged light-alloy wheels. The rear seat compartment cover also plays a role in this. At least ten kilograms of weight are lost thanks to the lightweight sports exhaust system. It combines a profoundly expressive sound experience with the Euro 6d ISC FCM (EU6 AP) emissions standard thanks to infinitely electrically adjustable exhaust flaps. The 911 GT3’s combined fuel consumption is 13.3 liters per 100 kilometers (PDK 12.4).

The Porsche 911 GT3 literally embodies its racing DNA in every detail. The cockpit matches the most recent model generation. The track screen is a brand-new feature that, at the touch of a button, changes the digital displays to the left and right of the central rev counter—which can reach up to 10,000 revs—to information like the level of the fuel tank, the temperature of the water, the oil pressure, and the tyre pressure indicator—all of which are crucial when driving on a circuit. Additionally, it has a shift light that was inspired by motorsports, as well as a visual shift assistant with colored bars to the left and right of the rev counter.

Customers are asking for more personalized equipment, especially for the Porsche GT models. Due to this, the new 911 GT3 is also compatible with the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur line, which is complemented by GT 3-specific options like a lightweight roof made of exposed carbon fiber. Other notable features include carbon fiber exterior mirror caps, main LED matrix headlights that have been darkened, and rear lights that match the fronts and have an arc of light without any red components. The black alloy wheels look better with Guards Red or Shark Blue painted wheel rims. Seatbelts and trim strips, as well as dials for the rev counter and Sport Chrono stopwatch, set attractive highlights in the body color or other preferred color within the vehicle.

The personalized chronograph that Porsche Design only provides to owners of the high-performance sports car is just as special as the 911 GT3 itself. Like its motorized counterpart, it has a dynamic design, reliable performance, and superior craftsmanship. Its housing is a testament to its Motorsport roots. It is made of tough, light titanium, just like the connecting rods of the GT3 engine. An separate winding rotor resembling the 911 GT3’s wheels powers the clock. The dial’s colored ring may be customized to match the 911 GT3’s paint scheme.
