In a significant move towards modernization and convenience, Islamabad residents can now obtain their driving licenses from the comfort of their homes, thanks to the newly launched online facility by the Capital Police.

The initiative comes as a response to the directives of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO), Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, reflecting a commitment to streamline bureaucratic processes and enhance citizen services.

The Details

This revolutionary step in digitizing driving license issuance aligns with the global trend of embracing technology for administrative tasks. According to a public relations officer, the Virtual Driving License is specifically designed for the residents of the federal capital.

The process is user-friendly, allowing citizens to download their virtual licenses by entering their National Identity Card number, driving license number, and expiration date on the official website.

The Islamabad police official emphasized that this initiative aims to simplify the often-cumbersome process of obtaining and renewing driving licenses. The Virtual Driving License platform not only offers convenience but also represents a progressive leap towards reducing paperwork and bureaucracy.

As the capital city continues to evolve, the launch of the online driving license facility marks a pivotal moment in providing citizens with efficient and accessible services.

Renew Driving License Online in Punjab

Moving towards digitalization, the Punjab government has not offered online renewal for driving license. Earlier, the government announced that citizens can renew their learner permits online.

According to a tweet by Lahore City Traffic Police, people can renew their licenses through the online system. “The candidates can renew their licenses for one, three, five, and ten years,” the tweet read.

Meanwhile, an international driving license will remain valid for three years. The police further said that a new digital system, NET, has replaced the 20-year-old Oracle system. “The masses can download their local and international e-licenses easily,” the announcement said, adding that these candidates would no longer have to take physical driving tests.
