In a bid to make your commute safe, Lahore City Traffic Police (CTP) has commenced a stern action. CTP has intensified its efforts against driving without a valid license. The Lahore CTP’s renewed crackdown on unlicensed driving comes as a crucial step to enhance road safety and reduce traffic violations. By setting up license checkpoints at strategic locations, the authorities are determined to avert the prevalent issue of driving without proper documentation.

In a considerate move, the CTP is taking into account the needs of aspiring drivers waiting for their licenses. By issuing learner’s permits on an urgent basis, the department ensures that these individuals can practice driving under supervision while abiding by the law.

Current Fine

Presently, driving without a license incurs a fine of Rs. 2,000. Nevertheless, the CTP (Central Traffic Police) has submitted a proposal to the provincial authorities suggesting an increase in fines to Rs. 5,000.

During May 2023, the department imposed daily fines on numerous motorists caught driving without licenses. Additionally, they issued warnings to more than 22,000 drivers with learner’s permits and over 6,000 drivers whose licenses had expired.

Citizens have been strongly advised by the police to verify the validity of their licenses before driving. Authorities have emphasized a strict ‘zero-tolerance’ approach towards non-compliance.

The department highlighted that driving without a valid license not only jeopardizes the safety of the driver but also poses a significant threat to the lives of other road users.
