Following the price hike trend, the Lahore Ring Road Authority took charge and increased toll tax by 20% for vehicles ranging from private automobiles to heavy traffic. The move also came amid the economic reforms taken by the Punjab government.
Here are new toll tax rates for different vehicles.
- Toll tax for private cars and jeeps has been increased by Rs. 10 per trip, clocking at Rs. 60 to against the old rate of Rs. 50.
- Passengers and coasters will now pay Rs. 120 compared to the old rate of Rs. 100, marking an uptick of Rs. 20 per trip.
- Meanwhile the toll tax for passenger buses observed a surge of Rs. 50 taking the new rate to Rs. 300 per trip compared to the previous rate of Rs. 250.
- Dumpers and loader trucks in conjunction with pick-ups will pay Rs. 360 per trip against earlier Rs. 300, reflecting an increase of Rs 60.
- However, heavy traffic has witnessed a considerable jump of Rs. 100, resulting in a new rate of Rs. 600, up from the previous rate of Rs. 500.
Lahore-Islamabad Motorway Toll Tax Increased
A couple of months ago, Lahore-Islamabad motorway toll tax was increased by 10% under a 20-year agreement between the National Highway Authority (NHA) and MS/More, a subsidiary of the Frontier Works Organization (FWO). The NHA signed the deal in 2014 to execute “overlay 86 modernization of Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M2)” on a Build Operate Transfer (BOT) Basis.
According to the Concessions Agreement, the following annual toll increase is applicable during this phase:
- A 10 yearly toll % increase will be applied from the 2nd operational year till 2026
- A 7% annual toll increase will be applicable from 2026 to 2034.
