In a bid to alleviate the persistent traffic congestion at Garhi Shahu Chowk, Lahore, the Punjab Development Working Party (PDWP) has given the green light for the construction of a flyover and an underpass. The decision comes with a sanctioned budget of Rs. 3,951.469 million, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure.

The approval was granted during the 37th meeting of the Punjab Development Working Party, where key officials, including Chairman Planning and Development (P&D) Board Iftikhar Ali Sahoo and Secretary P&D Board Muzaffar Khan Sial, were present.

Additionally, the meeting paved the way for the construction of a signal-free corridor from Karim Market to Motorway (M-2) Phase-I, Lahore. This ambitious project comes with an allocated budget of Rs. 2,975.034 million, promising a seamless commuting experience for residents and visitors alike.

It is related to mention that Walton Road is a major link between DHA and Ferozepur Road and used to face heavy traffic throughout the day. With the completion of this project, there would be a nonstop flow of traffic, reducing the burden on adjacent roads. The companies and authorities have ensured speedy work on them and completed them in a span of around three months only.

In a proactive move, Syed Mohsin Naqvi, the caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, conducted a late-night inspection of the ongoing construction at the River Ravi Bridge and Shahdara Chowk in Lahore.

Observing the night shift workers and assessing the progress of drilling activities, Naqvi emphasized the importance of timely completion, directing the team to expedite the work and utilize all available resources to meet the January 31 deadline.
