[ad_1]

Inflation, instability, currency devaluation, and heavy customs duties have increased the prices of imported cars to record new levels. As of now, FBR is charging 3.9 to 7.5 million PKR as a duty on all imported cars over 1,000cc and above. In this case, going for a CKD car sounds like a good value-for-money decision. So here’s a complete list and review of all the locally assembled sedan cars available in Pakistan.

Proton Saga

Saga comes with a 1,300cc DOHC engine that produces 91 HP of power and 117 Nm of torque. It’s currently the cheapest local sedan you can buy. Although the company has put the order intakes on hold as of now, its booking will continue soon, or you can buy it on premium (own).

The interior is not visually appealing, but it does offer all the standard features that a 4-6 million car offers, including hill-hold assist, power windows, infotainment, power steering, and VVT engine technology.

On top of that, the most impressive thing about the Proton Saga is its 4-star NCAP rating, making it one of the safest local sedan cars in Pakistan.

Pricing is:

Proton Saga 1.3L Standard M/T PKR 3,749,000
Proton Saga 1.3L Standard A/T PKR 3,949,000
Proton Saga 1.3L Ace A/T PKR 4,099,000

Differences in Variants

The Standard M/T has a manual transmission, the Standard A/T has an automatic transmission, and the Ace A/T offers DRLs, VSA, HHA, and an infotainment display.

Toyota Yaris

The Yaris is a compact version of the Corolla, both in size, features, and pricing. If you’re looking for a budget sedan car, the Yaris could be one of the best options. Additionally, with the Toyota emblem, you will get an excellent resale value and on-the-spot parts availability.

Pricing is:

Toyota Yaris GLI MT 1.3 PKR 4,326,000
Toyota Yaris ATIV MT 1.3 PKR 4,586,000
Toyota Yaris GLI CVT 1.3 PKR 4,616,000
Toyota Yaris ATIV CVT 1.3 PKR 4,766,000

Toyota Yaris ATIV X CVT 1.5 PKR 5,649,000
Toyota Yaris AERO CVT 1.5 PKR 5,849,000

Differences in Variants

All eight variants offer VSA, ABS, 2 airbags, hill assist, ISOFIX child support, keyless entry, steering adjustments, traction control, and immobilizer.

However, the AERO and ATIV series offer fog lamps, rear speakers, steering switches, and rear power outlets along with allowed wheels. Additionally, the AERO variants offer climate control, push start and smart entry features

Changan Alsvin

Alsvin was introduced in the Yaris competition in January 2021. Commenting on which car is best is a controversial topic, as both vehicles offer the best of the world in their respective categories. Of course, in terms of parts availability and resale, no brand can beat Toyota. On the other hand, Alsvin provides better drive quality, comfortable suspension, and a more spacious and aesthetically pleasing interior than the Yaris.

Pricing is:

Changan Alsvin 1.3L MT Comfort PKR 3,799,000
Changan Alsvin 1.5L DCT Comfort PKR 4,349,000
Changan Alsvin 1.5L DCT Lumiere PKR 4,549,000

Differences in variants:

The difference between the first two is the transmission, while the Lumiere offers fog lights, DRLs, and a sunroof.

Honda City

Honda City is Honda’s most selling locally assembled sedan. It’s a B-segment sub-compact sedan that comes with a 1.2 liter SOHC Port Fuel Injection system, producing 88 HP of power and 145 Nm of torque. This model is a direct competitor of the Toyota Yaris, with the base variant starting from 4.7 million PKR while Yaris’s base variant starts from 4.3 million PKR. However, it is believed that the City provides good driving quality and offers a comfortable experience on long tours.

There are three main variants of Honda City, split into sub-variants:

1.2 Series:

1.5 Series:

Aspire Series:

  • Aspire 1.2 MT
  • Aspire 1.5 CVT

Hyundai Elantra

Elantra is a C-segment subcompact car that made its debut in Pakistan in 2021 in the competition Toyota Corolla Grande 1.8. However, the vehicle isn’t able to meet its shoulders with Corolla’s sales figures, not even close.

Still, the car is one of the locally assembled sedan options you can choose in the 6.3 or 6.4 million budget. It provides far superior drive quality than any other sedan in the locally assembled market. Additionally, it’s one of the few CKD sedans that comes with an engine higher than 1.8. Yes, the GLS variant comes with a 2.0-liter engine, which produces 154 HP of power.

Other features include a rearview camera, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, tetra LED projector lamps, DRLs, hill-assist, parking sensors, and alloy wheels to come standard in both variants.

Pricing is:

Hyundai Elantra GL PKR 6,399,000
Hyundai Elantra GLS PKR 6,930,000

Differences in variants:

The only difference between the GL and GLS is the engine capacity: the GL has a 1.6-liter engine, and the GLS has a 2.0-liter engine.

Toyota Corolla X

Corolla, the most selling locally assembled sedan car in Pakistan, is renowned for its durability, reliability, and best resale value. For a long time, Indus Motors was offering regular models of the Corolla, e.g., XLI, GLI, Altis 1.6, and Altis Grande 1.8. In 2021, IMC launched the Corolla X lineup, which was a facelift version of the older variants. As of now, the company is still offering the Corolla X lineup to its customers based on the 11th generation lineup.

Overall, the Corolla is the best option if you’re looking for a sedan with a spacious interior, good driving quality, reliability, and resale value.

Pricing is:

Toyota Corolla Altis X Manual 1.6 PKR 5,969,000
Toyota Corolla Altis 1.6 X CVT-i PKR 6,559,000

The CVTi series comes with alloy wheels, climate control, smart key, cruise control, and a sunroof, while the CVT-i 1.8 Beige Interior and CVT-i 1.8 Black Interior offer a moonroof, smart entry, rear power outlet, hill assist, and spare tire kit.

Honda Civic

The Civic was the most iconic car in the Honda lineup until the 11th generation was launched in 2022. Its price ranges from 8.3 million to 9.8 million, which is also a turnoff for this vehicle. Still, it’s an impressive Honda car with Honda sensing features and 2 airbags; at least you get a badge of Civic.

Pricing is:

Honda Civic Standard PKR 8,329,000
Honda Civic Oriel PKR 8,659,000
Honda Civic RS PKR 9,899,000

Differences in Variants

The Oriel offers optional features, including a sunroof and fog lights, while RS Turo offers a turbocharger, rear spoiler, and 17-inch alloys.

Hyundai Sonata

Sonata is a full-size D-segment sedan and the most premium CKD sedan you can buy in Pakistan. In terms of features and built quality, Sonata competes with premium German brands, including Audi and BMW.

It’s a full-featured sedan car with all the options and features that you can expect from a premium segment sedan such as leather seats, heads-up display, electronically powered seat adjustment, adaptive projector lamps, parking assist, ESC, VSA, ABS, window curtains, adaptive cruise control, and sunroof.
