Salon Privé London 2023 took place from Thursday 20th to Saturday 22nd April. The event is now in it’s second year, and was once again held at the wonderful and beautiful Royal Hospital Chelsea. We attended on the Thursday, a day for media and VIPs.
All our photos from this wonderful car show can been seen on our Facebook Album, and we also took a lot of video content, which you can see on our YouTube channel in the coming weeks, including our walk around the show if you did not have the chance to attend.
As any regular followers will know, it’s always very difficult to narrow down a massive car list to just a selection of 10 cars, when there are hundreds of cars on display. I have done my best here to highlight my favourite 10 cars (of 74 featured) from the Concours De Vente at Salon Privé London 2023, based on the cars that I would most like to own/drive, if money was no object. I have placed the cars in order with my favourites highlighted first. Do let me know if you think my car order is wrong, as we always like to hear your thoughts.
Note, I have purposely missed out the Ferrari F40 here (boo I hear you say). I have done so as I have included an F40 in many top 10s of the past, and it’s a given that the F40 will always be my No.1 or near to any top 10 list I do, I will give the other cars featured a chance…
1960 Cegga 250 TR Sanction
This beautiful 1960 Cegga 250 TR Sanction was for sale at £POA. Just a super super looking car. Just beautiful. We love it.
.
Maserati MC12
This 2005 Maserati MC12 was for sale for, you guessed it £POA.
The Maserati MC12 (Tipo M144S) was a limited production two-seater sports car produced by Italian car maker Maserati to allow a racing variant to compete in the FIA GT Championship. The car entered production in 2004, with 25 cars produced. A further 25 were produced in 2005 after the FIA changed the rules and reduced the maximum length allowed. The second batch of 25 are 150mm shorter than the originals, making a total of 50 cars available for customers. With the addition of 12 cars produced for racing, a total of just 62 were ever produced.
Maserati designed and built the car on the chassis of the Ferrari Enzo, but the final car is much larger and has a lower drag coefficient, along with being longer, wider and taller and has a sharper nose and smoother curves than the Enzo. The Enzo had quicker acceleration, shorter braking distance, and a higher top speed at 350 km/h (217 mph), 20 km/h (12 mph) more than the MC12.
We absolutely love this car and would love to drive one.
.
Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato
This Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato was for sale £POA (£1.8m)
In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful cars ever made, and another beautiful Zagato. I love Zagato. It has to be said this is a lot of money, as it is not an original, just a DB4 that has been changed to a Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato.
.
1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Vignalle
This 1954 Aston Martin DB2/4 Vignalle was for sale for £3.65 million. Wow. Just look at it. What a beautiful car, but that is a shit load of money. You are know doubt paying for the rarity and exclusivity. Never seen this car before and it’s certainly a looker.
.
1961 Maserati 3500 GT Vignalle Spyder
This 1961 Maserati 3500 GT Vignalle Spyder was for sale for £725,000. I’m absolutely beautiful looking car. I’m not normally a fan of grey. But this car in this colour with the chrome work is absolutely stunning.

1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport Zagato
This 1929 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Super Sport Zagato was for sale for £POA (but I asked of course, and it’s £795,000). Such a cool car. I love the look of these old cars. Just an honest mechanical instrument. Beautiful, as anything made by Zagato normally is.
.
1973 Porsche 911 2.7 MFI European specification
This 1973 Porsche 911 2.7 MFI European specification was for sale for £220,000. This Porsche 911 absolutely pops in the sun. I love this colour and this shape. What a super cool car.
.
1953 Bentley R Type La Sarthe
This 1953 Bentley R Type La Sarthe was for sale for £420,000. I love this car. I’ve seen it several times before. This car has a unique shape and is absolutely exquisite. Bravo to the builders, very very cool.
.
1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT
This 1972 Ferrari Dino 246 GT was for sale at £499,995. It’s absolutely gorgeous in white. In my opinion a Dino should be no where near this price irrespective of its history or provenance. You could pick a Dino up for less that £100k only 10 years ago.
.
1977 Ferrari 512BB
This 1977 Ferrari 512 BB was for sale at £POA. I think in silver with the two tone, black and silver looks great. Very cool.
