Where Lahore Traffic Police is striving hard to make the roads safe for the motorists, a significant number of citizens in the city are being apprehended for disregarding traffic rules.

As per the tweet shared by Lahore Traffic Police, in the first month of 2024, more than 500,000 urbanites were caught breaking the law in the capital city. Surprisingly, motorcyclists remain at the forefront of traffic violations. Despite increased awareness and strict traffic regulations, motorcycles continue to be a primary source of infractions.

Last month January witnessed a staggering 28,000 motorcyclists receiving tickets for riding without helmets. The importance of helmets in ensuring rider safety cannot be overstated, yet a significant number of riders seem to neglect this crucial safety measure.

The authorities are making efforts to curb this trend, emphasizing the importance of protective gear for every rider on the road.

Moreover, stringent actions were taken against underage drivers, resulting in fines for 843 vehicles, including motorcycles and rickshaws. The focus on curbing underage driving is essential for the overall safety of road users.

With an aim to make the driving license process smooth, the incumbent provincial interim government is also taking several digital steps. i.e., online driving dress facility, online registration and the renewal.

Lahore Gets Online Driving Test Facility

With an aim to digitalize administrative processes in the capital city, the e-Khidmat Markaz at Arfa Software Technology Park (ASTP) has introduced the online driving test service as part of the ongoing digital drive pertaining to driving license initiative.

Collaborating with the Punjab Traffic Police and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB), the objective is to enhance the effectiveness of driving licenses throughout the province.

The initiation of the driving Test Service at the e-Khidmat Centre ASTP signifies the first step in a broader strategy to expand this service to all e-Khidmat Marakiz across the province.

A pivotal meeting session laid the foundation for the seamless integration of the online driving test service into the existing framework.
