Amid prevailing economic uncertainty and political unrest when Pakistan’s auto industry has been marred, any positive change seems bleak in the near future. But here we come with an update enough to spawn a buzz among electric SUVs enthusiasts and the local industry.

Nevertheless, reports have revealed that Jaxeri Automotive (Pvt.) Ltd., the pioneer of Pakistan’s domestic electric car production, intends to introduce a fully-electric compact SUV in the country by 2025.
The latest reports have disclosed that Muhammad Najeeb Haroon, Chairman of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), recently paid a visit to the company’s local Research and Development (R&D) center.
In the course of the meeting, the company briefed the PEC chairperson on the advancements occurring in the realm of car manufacturing. They also informed the chairman about the headway being achieved in creating a compact fully electric SUV.
The company delegates further conveyed that this SUV will be both designed and produced within the local setting. They specified that the anticipated release of the SUV in Pakistan is scheduled for the year 2025.
Context
Mind you, it is the same Jaxeri Automobile (Pvt.) Ltd, who back on 14 August 2022, unveiled the first ‘made in Pakistan’ electric hatchback dubbed Nur-E 75 prototype. When asked about the car’s launch, the company’s top official told us, “The project is in process, Alhamdulillah. It is currently in phase 2, and R & D office has been set up in Korangi Industrial Area since January 2023, which will lead to the production phase by the first half of 2024 IA.”
However, he clarified that 2024 is the year of setting up of production plant. “The booking and production of cars for the public is expected by the start of 2025,” he told us. The official added that the production will start if things go according to plan considering the country’s current economic condition. Importantly, the same 2025 is also the launch year of Pakistan’s first electric SUV.
