After Atlas Honda, Suzuki Pakistan has also announced a price hike for two of its bikes, i.e., GR150 and GSX125. The prices of these bikes have been increased up to Rs. 26,000, an astonishing jump but not so much in context of last price hikes by the bike companies in Pakistan. As per a notification by the bike company, new prices are applicable from September 15, 2023.
Suzuki GR150 & GSX125 – New Prices
After the recent increase:
- The new price of GR150 is Rs. 547,000 compared to previous Rs. 521,000, meaning it observed a significant hike of Rs. 26,000.
- The revised rate of GSX125 is Rs. 499,000 against Rs. 488,000 as it seen a hike of Rs. 11,000.
According to the company, the retail prices are inclusive of ex-factory product price and freight charges, applied on bikes delivered to the dealerships. Furthermore, the above prices are subject to change without any notice. The prices at the time of bike’s delivery will be applicable. Last but not least, any government tax applicable will be charged to the customer.
Not surprisingly, the company has not shared the reason for this price hike, although it has issued a proper notification of the price hike. The primary reasons could be import difficulties, expensive raw materials, and unstable PKR against the USD, which directly impacts the forex rate. And as we have mentioned in multiple blogs earlier, despite the claim of total localization, the bike companies, especially Yamaha and Suzuki, import the major components of their bikes, meaning more the dollar rate, more the bikes rates, and in this case-sadly-more is not the merrier.
This endless loop of price hikes seems to continue in the foreseeable future because of economic and political instability. The automotive industry will take a couple of months to come out of this misery. Till then, keep your fingers crossed and enjoy the bumpy ride of uncertainty.
