The announcement came amid a strict crackdown by the traffic police against the license-less drivers in Lahore and other cities of Punjab. The recent operation was started after a horrible car accident by a teenage driver, killing six people from the same family. Due to the current pressure from the police, a record-high number of people have applied for learner and driving licenses in the last couple of months.

On December 5, the police announced that it had issued 74,000 learner permits in a day in Punjab. The bustling provincial capital took the lead, with a staggering 24,000 licenses issued, highlighting a substantial increase in adherence to licensing requirements.
The Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) of Lahore has been instrumental in overseeing the efficient processing of fines and licenses at a monitoring center established at the traffic headquarters, ensuring a streamlined and effective implementation of the crackdown.
Online Registration
To facilitate the people, traffic police launched an online service for the people. The groundbreaking decision aims to simplify and streamline the licensing process, considering the surge in the number of people applying for licenses in the region.
Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi spearheaded the launch of this online facility on a significant Sunday. Citizens can now conveniently apply for their learner’s licenses through the Punjab Police app or at any of the 737 police stations and Khidmat Marakiz scattered across the province.
To avail of this online service, applicants need to follow a straightforward process:
- Create an account on the DLIMS licensing website.
- Fill out the application form.
- Upload the required documents.
- Generate a payment slip ID and pay through ATM, online banking, or mobile banking channels.
The essential documents for the online application include the applicant’s picture, scanned copies of the front and back of the original CNIC, and a medical certificate signed by a government doctor for applicants above 50 years of age.
