Today we’re back with the owner’s review of arguably the cleanest R34 Skyline Of Pakistan. This Nissan Skyline GT-R is a series 1 model manufactured in 2000, and the owner bought it 3 years ago when it was driven only 4700 kilometers. Over these 3 years, he has taken the mileage up to 10,000 kilometers while doing some upgrades. In this review, he briefs us about its interesting features and walks us through the upgrades he has done to it.
Drivetrain
The R34 Skyline comes equipped with the infamous RB26DETT, a 2.6 liter straight 6 engine that originally produced around 276 hp. However, the owner has upgraded it with a Nitto stroker kit, including an upgraded crankshaft, pistons, rods, etc. Other engine mods include an upgraded intake manifold with 12 injectors, an upgraded intercooler, and more. This has enabled the car to achieve higher power figures than a stock R34.
Exterior
Surprisingly, this R34 is still in its original Bayside Blue Colour. It has some minor imperfections, but the owner kept it in its original paint. Along with the engine, the owner has also upgraded the braking with R35 brake rotors and brake calipers with the help of a hyper-tune hub kit. Coming to the wheels, the owner has put the infamous TE37 alloys, which are a common choice for R34s.
Interior
As per the owner, the interior was pristine when he bought the car; hence, no work was required to uplift it. However, he did do some minor tweaks, such as a rally-style boss kit for the steering; the steering itself is aftermarket with dedicated buttons for launch control and anti-lag.
It has also been fitted with a Motec C1212 digital dash in which the owner configures the original R34’s analog dials. This digital instrument cluster is paired with a Motec C127 information display for which the owner imported a custom R34 housing from Australia. The owner was reluctant to change the original parts, but as the car is tuned, these Motec devices were necessary for certain information, which the stock car could not have provided.
R34 Experience
The owner has had the car for three years now, and in his opinion, this is one of the finest Japanese cars made. Being an AWD, he especially takes it to uphill areas because he enjoys it the most. Surprisingly, this 2000 model GT-R has rear-wheel steering with the help of the HICAS system that Nissan developed for all-wheel steering. As per the owner, he has barely driven it in Lahore as he thinks that it is not worth driving on congested roads. However, it is a dream of a car to drive on uphill and curvy roads where it shows its true potential.
Parts
As for the spare parts, used and aftermarket parts can be easily sourced from abroad due to its cult following, which continues to date. However, as per the owner, if you want to get original new parts, Nissan has a Nismo Heritage Program through which you can order brand new R34 parts. However, the downside is that due to the volume of orders, there is a waiting time of up to a year which can test some patience.
