History of chassis 52741

Chassis 52741 was one of two Ferrari 288 GTOs originally delivered to renowned Italian car collector, Emilio Gnutti in Brescia (the other having been chassis 52465).

Delivered in February 1985, Sig. Gnutti specified chassis 52741 with black leather upholstery, electric windows and air-conditioning. He retained the car until 1988, at which point it was sold to Englishman Rod Key and registered B591 OPG.

Over the course of the next few years, Rod Key drove the GTO extensively between his homes in England and Monte Carlo. Throughout this time the car was looked after by the British Ferrari distributor, Maranello Concessionaires. Unfortunately, on one visit to the firm’s service department, some damage to the rear fender and sill was incurred while on test with a technician which was subsequently repaired.

During his time with the car, Rod Key was a frequent attendee at Ferrari Owners Club events. Chassis 52741 is depicted here at the annual FOC Concours d’Elegance in 1988 and 1989 and at Brands Hatch in 1990.

In 1993, the GTO was sold to Archer Maclean and in 1998 it became the property of renowned F1 designer, Adrian Newey who retained it until 2005.
