Impressive Rolls-Royce Bespoke CommissionsNow that we’ve officially turned the corner into a new year, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on everything that’s been accomplished by the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective.

2023 marked a year of many boundary-pushing firsts, inspired by ethereal backdrops and otherworldly locales. In this collection, hand-picked materials and top-tier craftsmanship dovetail in perfect unison, ascending to much more than the sum of their parts and representing the cutting edge of custom motor car artistry.

The Phantom Syntopia

Considered by Rolls-Royce themselves as “the most technically complex Bespoke commission ever undertaken,” this Haute Couture-inspired Phantom invokes a truly haunting feel thanks to its dark palette and Weaving Water motif.

Upon stepping inside, the eyes are immediately drawn to the Bespoke Starlight Headliner, which was conceived in partnership with Iris van Herpen, a renowned Dutch fashion designer. The mind-bending 3D effect is achieved by overlaying unique materials with premium leather, creating a captivating dual snakelike pattern. Rumor has it that the headliner alone took almost 700 hours to complete.

The visuals are but one innovative aspect—the Syntopia incorporates a multi-sensory experience with headrest-mounted devices that release a personalized scent for passengers to enjoy.

The Black Badge Cullinan Blue Shadow

This extremely limited model emphasizes “atmosphere” in more ways than one—it takes its design cues and inspiration from the very edge of space itself.

One of the most striking features of this piece is the Stardust Blue exterior paint, which calls to mind the deep azure wavelengths found scattered at the Kármán Line, a boundary marking the upper border of Earth’s atmosphere. The imaginary line is exactly 62 miles above the Earth’s surface, and to honor this, only 62 Blue Shadow models were produced.

The interior features multiple hues of blue and black, blended together with immaculate precision to a dazzling effect. The headliner is one of the most stunning we’ve ever seen, with an intricate moon embroidery surrounded by nearly 2,000 multicolored points of starlight.

The Blue Shadow Collection also features a Bespoke luggage set that matches the motif of the vehicle, and buyers have to option to commission a 1:8 precise replica, complete with working doors and lights. How’s that for a conversation piece?

The Phantom Cinque Terre

So-named for the famed “Five Lands” in the northwest of Italy, this one-of-one commission captures the magic and rustic beauty of the Ligurian countryside.

As with many Bespoke Rolls-Royce creations, the Starlight Headliner steals the show here. It features a detailed map of the Italian peninsula, made up of nearly 15,000 individual stitches and crowned by five gleaming points of light meant to represent the five villages of the Cinque Terre region. The gold and cream colors remind one of the charming stucco facades dotting the coast of the Mediterranean.

Throughout the interior and exterior, you’ll also find an elegantly simple grape branch motif, along with Navy Blue and Jasmine accents that fill the mind with visions of the surrounding hillside terraces from which the local winemaking industry grows. Much like Liguria itself, this Rolls-Royce is truly timeless.

The Manchester Ghost

The city of Manchester has a special historical resonance with the Rolls-Royce marque—it’s the place where Charles Rolls and Henry Royce first met at the famous Midland Hotel. To honor this monumental meeting of minds, Rolls-Royce Manchester crafted the first-ever motor car dedicated to their beloved corner of the world.

In all ways, this machine is a love letter to the city’s culture and citizens, past and present. It features multiple iterations of the Manchester Bee, as well as a lighted fascia bearing the phrase “This is the Place,” a tribute to Mancunian poet Tony Walsh.

The headliner is made of graphene, a strong and industrious material that was first isolated by two scientists at the University of Manchester. In the middle of the rear seat backrest, a list of iconic locations is tastefully embroidered into the upholstery. And, in the treadplates, the letters “MCR” are inscribed in binary code, a nod to Manchester’s enduring influence on the field of technology.

The Rose Blossom Phantom

Another one-of-a-kind bespoke commission, the Rose Blossom is a tribute to Rolls-Royce’s very own bespoke species of rose that blooms only at the Goodwood plant.

The interior designs are impossibly intricate, with rose-themed stitching and inlays adorning every corner of the Phantom’s lustrous cabin. The headliner alone took weeks to complete, weaving petals and vines around the speckled Starlight pattern.

Those with a true eye for detail will also notice four different species of butterfly flitting amongst the greenery, which extends down to the passenger panel and back to the rear waterfall.
