Toyota has revealed the forthcoming release of the Hilux GR Sport II for global markets, with expectations for it to be available at dealerships in 2024. The second version of the GR Sport model boasts numerous enhancements both internally and externally, as well as beneath the surface.
What’s New?
Drawing on its successful legacy in the Dakar Rally, the Hilux GR Sport II offers an impressive blend of improved handling and stability. It sets a benchmark with a towing capacity of 3,500 kg and a payload capacity of 1,000 kg.
Additionally, the vehicle features an expanded tread, the lateral distance between the wheels, with an increase of 140 mm at the front and 155 mm at the rear compared to the standard Toyota Hilux. This extension contributes to a confident driving experience, particularly in challenging weather conditions or demanding driving scenarios.
Enhancements have been made to augment the stability of the vehicle, achieved by minimizing roll angle and providing a precise steering response.
The Hilux GR Sport II has undergone improvements in vibration reduction and noise cancellation, with dedicated enhancements to both suspension and brakes aimed at ensuring a stable and more comfortable ride.
Power
Beneath the hood, the vehicle retains its 2.8L turbodiesel engine, delivering 204 hp of power and 500 Nm of torque, coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Style & Design
The Hilux GR Sport II sets itself apart in terms of exterior aesthetics from the standard Hilux models. This distinction is achieved through various exterior design elements, including the black G mesh front grille, black sidestep, mirrors, and door handles.
Complementing this look are silver-colored protective front underguards, a black rear bumper, and distinctive GR SPORT logos that enhance the overall visual appeal. Notable additions include red coil springs and colored monotube suspension, bold black over-fenders, and lightweight 17-inch black alloy wheels.
Inside The Cabin
Within, the interior adopts an all-black theme complemented by dynamic red accents. The sporty ambiance is further enhanced by GR-branded black suede and leather sport seats, featuring silver stitching and perforation, along with vibrant red seatbelts.
The cabin showcases a fresh hydrographic ornament on the door trim and dashboard, incorporating GR details on the information display and instrumentation. The Hilux GR Sport II is equipped with the cutting-edge Toyota Smart Connect multimedia system, navigated through an 8-inch touchscreen display.
Other Upgrades
Additional technical enhancements encompass an upgraded monotube suspension system, augmented by larger 17-inch front discs and newly integrated 15-inch rear discs, ensuring more robust and efficient braking capabilities.
The functional design is fortified with an improved approach angle and heightened ground clearance, enhancing the vehicle’s off-road prowess. The optimal front and rear suspension balance contributes to a smoother and more stable ride overall.
