After electric cars flaunting on the roads, EV enthusiasts must be ready to fly electric vehicles. In a recent development, an international media report has revealed that the world’s first EV is all set for its test flight.

As per Californian car maker Alef Aeronautics, the Federal Aviation Administration has granted permission to issue Special Airworthiness Certification for the flight. This milestone is noteworthy as it signifies the first instance of a flying vehicle receiving official authorization to operate in the air by the US Government.

The certificate came with some limitations pertaining to locations and purposes, as the Federal Aviation Authority has not yet fully formulated the policies regarding electrical vertical takeoff and landing vehicles.

On its website, Alef Said, “Designed to drive on the street, take off vertically when needed and fly overhead above traffic, we’re building the solution to the issues of modern congestion”.

“We enable faster and easier commutes, driven by proprietary technology that elevates the vehicle without the need for runways”, it added.

Specs & Features

As per Alef, fully electric Model A comes with a driving range of 200 miles while the flight range of the EV 110 miles. The company asserted that the vehicle is designed to seamlessly integrate into the current urban driving and parking infrastructure.

Moreover, Alef stated that Model A is comparatively a slow-speed EV. Here, a supporting argument came as ‘If a driver wants a faster route, he may utilize its flying capabilities’.

Alef says that the 2-seater car coming with a full-vehicle ballistic parachute ensures a smoothness and stability during ride and flight.

The Model A is priced at $300,000, with pre-sales starting in October. Buyer can choose between a $150 deposit or a $1,500 deposit to secure a spot in the priority queue. Alef has received substantial pre-orders from both individuals and businesses.
