The world’s third largest smartphone maker, Xiaomi, announces the launch of an electric vehicle, SU7, aiming to become one of the top five automakers globally. The EV Su7 is the short form of ‘Speed Ultra’ that will feature ‘super electric motor technology’ competing against the Tesla and Porsche cars.
Overview:
The Xiaomi SU7 will be launched in three trim levels: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max. This electric car will come in a 4-door style sedan with a passengers’ capacity. SU7 will be manufactured under the Beijing Automotive Industry Housing Co. Ltd. (BAIC) supervision and will start delivery in mid or late 2024.
Specs and Features
SU7 will come in a dimension of 4997/1963/1455 mm with a wheelbase of 3000 mm. Featuring two-wheel options of 19-inch and 20-inch with a tire specification of 245/45 R19 and 245/40 R20, respectively. The basic trim will come with a curb weight of 1,980 kg and a top trim of 2,205 kg. It will have two options for the powertrain as well: the RWD with 220 kW motor and AWD with 495 kW.
In addition, we anticipate this electric sedan will come with a face recognition feature powered by Xiaomi’s HyperOS and will work for smartphones and cars both.
Xiaomi SU7 Top Speed
Xiaomi hinted towards taking the batteries from the BYD for lower trims and from CATL for the higher trims. However, the top speed limit for the basic trim will be 210 km/h and 265 km/h for the expensive ones.
SU7 Price
According to sources, the Xiaomi SU7 will be priced at approximately $50,900.
