Moving towards digitalization, the Punjab government has not offered online renewal for driving license. Earlier, the government announced that citizens can renew their learner permits online. According to a tweet by Lahore City Traffic Police, people can renew their licenses through the online system from January 1, 2024. “The candidates can renew their licenses for one, three, five, and ten years,” the tweet read.
Meanwhile, an international driving license will remain valid for three years. The police further said that a new digital system, NET, has replaced the 20-year-old Oracle system. “The masses can download their local and international e-licenses easily,” the announcement said, adding that these candidates would no longer have to take physical driving tests.
The online learner permit fee will be received through EasyPaisa, JazzCash, and 1 Line. “Remember, driving without a license or driving with an expired license can lead to a Rs. 2,000 fine and legal action,” the police said.

Increase in Annual License Fee
Yesterday, the Punjab government announced increased annual fees for the learners, renewal, and new driving licenses from January 1, 2024. According to the Lahore City Traffic Police’s Twitter handle, the fee will be received annually instead of five years earlier. The police have urged the citizens to apply for their licenses before the deadline.
So, if you haven’t renewed your driving license, you can do it online after a couple of days, but it would be with revised fees. Before January 1, you can do it by visiting Khidmat traffic police centers with the current fees.
