The automotive world is always abuzz with excitement whenever a new model year is announced, and the 2024 Toyota Fortuner is no exception. Toyota’s popular midsize SUV has received a significant update, boasting more power under the hood and an array of enhanced features that are bound to captivate SUV enthusiasts.
Power Boost
In the most recent announcement, the Fortuner GR Sport has received an enhancement in its 1GD-FTV 2.8-liter inline-four turbo-diesel engine, resulting in a power output of 221 horsepower (hp) and 550 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. This represents a notable increase of 20 hp and 50 Nm compared to the existing model.
Transmitting this power to the wheels is achieved through a six-speed automatic gearbox equipped with paddle shifters. Similar to the current version, the upcoming Fortuner GR Sport will retain its part-time four-wheel drive (4X4) capability.
Features & Design Language
The latest iteration of the Fortuner GR Sport maintains consistency in its design and features. It retains GR-branded sports seats, a key fob, push start button, monotube dampers, brakes, 20-inch wheels, aluminum pedals, and exterior styling elements from its predecessor. Additionally, the new model also incorporates the following features:
- Wifi Apple Carplay and Andriod Auto
- 9-inch touchscreen head unit
- Powered driver’s seat
- 2-inch multi-info instrument cluster display
- Automatic LED headlamps
- Synthetic leather upholstery
- A powered tailgate with hands-free access
- A wireless phone charger
- 7 airbags
- panoramic view monitor
- Toyota Safety Sense
Debut?
Initially, the SUV is set to make its debut in Thailand, where it will be priced at approximately Rs. 15.78 million. Interestingly, despite offering enhanced features and increased power, it maintains a lower price point compared to the Pakistan-specific Fortuner GR-S variant, which offers less power and equipment.
