Featured on AutoHunter, the online auction platform driven by ClassicCars.com, is this 1997 Ford F-350 Crew Cab 4×4.

At just under 100,000 miles, this workhorse still has many hours and miles of labor to put in. It was purchased new by the seller’s grandfather and has been Utah-owned its entire life, primarily used to tow a fifth-wheel recreational vehicle until just recently. Torque (425 lb-ft of it, to be exact) comes from a robust Power Stroke 7.3-liter turbodiesel V8 which is mated to a rebuilt four-speed automatic transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The truck is now being offered with a clear title and a clean CARFAX report.

The ninth generation of Ford’s popular F-Series pickup holds a special place in my own family’s history because my dad owned a couple of them in my younger years. This generation was the last of what later became known as the “OBS” (or Old Body Style) of Ford trucks. Design language was notably square for its time, which was not surprising since technically the underpinnings of this truck dated as far back as 1980. There were a variety of powertrains and body styles available, and the one featured today is among the longest since it has a crew-cab body style and a longbed.

The interior of the cab comes with plenty of niceties for its time, especially considering this is an upper-level XLT model. Features include power windows, power door locks, cruise control, and an AM/FM stereo. A CB radio has been added for added highway communication options, and seating for six means that plenty of friends or family members can come along for the ride.

How much exactly will this truck tow? Sources vary depending on where the information is coming from, and I was not able to find a definitive source of truth on this, but most resources say this truck is rated for a max towing capacity of 12,500 points and a max payload of 4,155 pounds. The average fishing boat including the trailer comes out to only about 3,500 pounds, so this truck has the strength to lug just about whatever you need to behind it.

Summer isn’t over yet – there’s still time to bid on this truck and put it to work hauling your camp trailer, jet skis, ATVs, or home improvement supplies.

The auction for this 1997 Ford F-350 4×4 ends September 5, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. (PDT)
