MG cars, famous for its premium SUVs in Pakistan, faced a considerable price drop in neighboring country – seems beyond the dreams if we consider it happening in Pakistan.

MG Motor India has implemented price reductions on the Hector and Hector Plus SUVs, offering discounts of up to INR 1.29 lac and INR 1.37 lakh, respectively. The move came after the company observed slower sales of these specific models. To provide an international context, these price adjustments translate to a range of discounts between PKR 4.53 lakh and PKR 4.81 lakh.

Coming to the prices of these SUVs, two variants of Hector dubbed ‘Style Petrol MT variant’ and ‘Shine Diesel MT Variant’ cost at INR 14.73 and INR 17.99, respectively. Meanwhile, the price of top variant Savvy Pro Petrol CVT has been reduced by INR 66,000, now clocks at INR 21.73 lac. Similarly, another top variant Sharp Pro Diesel MT faced a price cut of INR 1.21 lac, costs INR 21.51.

The starting price of the base Hector Plus is now INR 17.50 lakh, representing a reduction of Rs 50,000. Meanwhile, the base diesel variant is priced at INR 19.76 lakh, offering a significant price drop of Rs 1.04 lakh. On the other hand, the Savvy Pro Petrol CVT variant is available at INR 22.43 lakh, while the highest-end diesel trim is now priced at INR 22.21 lakh (ex-showroom).

Engine

Coming to the power, MG Hector and Hector Plus SUVs offer two engine options:

• 5L turbo-petrol engine carrying the capacity to produce 141 hp and 250 Nm torque
• 0L diesel engine producing 168 hp and 350 Nm torque.

Both of these vehicles come with 6-speed manual and CVT transmission.

The MG Hector was once a leading seller in the Indian market. However, after receiving a significant facelift earlier this year that introduced numerous additional features to an already extensive list of amenities, the price of the Hector experienced a substantial increase, adversely affecting its sales. With this substantial price reduction, MG aims to rekindle the lost sales momentum and regain its competitive edge in the market.
