In a bid to keep the daily commuters safe from traffic congestions may happened amid the Muharram procession on the city’s busiest roads, Rawalpindi’s Traffic police has issued a traffic plan for the next few days.

The procession are scheduled to occur at the different points in the city dated July 26 (7th of Muharram), July 29 (10th of Muharram), and July 30 (11th of Muharram).

On July 26 (7th of Muharram), the procession is scheduled to begin after Maghrib and will extend throughout the night until Fajr the following day. To facilitate this event safely, the Rawalpindi City Traffic Police has decided to close several main avenues, including Nishtar Street, Kuri Road, Chah Sultan, Sadiqabad Road, Committee Chowk, Jamia Majid Road, and a few others.

Similarly on July 29 (10th of Muharram), the procession will commence at 7 AM from Imam Bargah Yadgar Hussain and Imam Bargah Col. Maqbool Hussain. The procession is expected to continue until Isha time.

To ensure the safety and smooth flow of the procession, the Rawalpindi City Traffic Police will implement road closures at various locations. The main roads that will be closed to traffic include 5th Road, Commercial Market, Asghar Mall Road, Banni Chowk, Jamia Masjid Road, Fawara Chowk, and Committee Chowk, among others.

Additionally, Tench Road, Dhamial Road, and Mughalabad Road will also be closed to traffic during this time. Meanwhile, motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and use caution while traveling in the affected areas to avoid any inconvenience.

 

On July 30 (11th of Muharram), the procession is scheduled to occur in the Peshawar Road area, starting from 02:00 PM and continuing until Isha time.

In order to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of the procession, certain road closures will be implemented. Specifically, Peshawar Road, ABL Street, Misrial Road, and Hali Road will be closed to traffic during the event.

Motorists are advised to plan their travel accordingly, taking into account the road closures in the mentioned areas, and consider alternative routes to reach their destinations without any disruptions. The Rawalpindi City Traffic Police will be present to manage the traffic flow and assist the public during this time.
