Tesla has taken the wraps off its revamped Tesla Model 3, code-named “Project Highland.” This significant refresh comes after six years of continuous innovation, pushing the boundaries of electric car technology. Let’s dive into the exciting updates that the Tesla Model 3 has in store.

Tesla Model 3 Legacy

The Model 3, initially introduced in 2016, marked Tesla’s strategic shift towards mass-market adoption of electric cars. It set a new standard by making EVs accessible to a broader audience, aiming to attract traditional car drivers into the electric world.

The Model 3 swiftly became a game-changer for Tesla, securing its place as the best-selling electric car globally. However, fierce competition followed as rival automakers entered the EV arena. Exterior Facelift

The refreshed Model 3 boasts exterior updates, including a redesigned front and rear. The fascia has been refined with a lower, curvier profile, aligning with the aesthetics of the Model S. New lighting designs further elevate its appearance. Stealth Gray and Ultra Red are the latest color options, accompanied by newly designed wheels in 18- and 19-inch sizes, to enhance range and reduce road noise.

The updated Model 3 will debut in two versions. The Rear-Wheel Drive model offers a range of 513 kilometers (318 miles) under the WLTP test cycle. It accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.1 seconds and boasts a top speed of 125 mph.

Inside the cabin, a revamped dashboard greets passengers, but the controversial yoke steering wheel from the Model S and Model X is notably absent. Instead, a more conventional three-spoke wheel is featured. The center stage belongs to the 15.4-inch touchscreen, while a dedicated driver display is still missing.

An impressive audio system comprising up to 17 speakers, dual subwoofers, and dual amplifiers promises an unparalleled sound experience. Rear passengers now have an 8-inch touchscreen with climate control and entertainment options, while the front offers two wireless phone charging pads. Ventilated front seats are available as an option.

Tesla Model 3 Superchargers

Owners of the new Model 3 can leverage Tesla’s extensive Supercharger network. Additionally, Tesla has inked deals with rival automakers, expanding access to its charging stations. Charging capability reaches up to 170 kW for the RWD Model 3, while the AWD Model 3 pushes it to 250 kW.

Expected Arrival

Orders for the refreshed Model 3 are already open in European markets, with the U.S. market soon to follow suit. Notable options include Enhanced Autopilot, offering features like Navigate on Autopilot and Auto Lane Change, along with the intriguing “Full Self-Driving Capability,” which, despite its name, requires driver supervision and intervention during beta testing.

While more range and enhanced technology align with Tesla’s ambitious goals, real-world performance will ultimately determine the success of these updates.
